We have had cracking summer weather this year. Even the dreaded midge has been relatively well behaved and have only proved irritating on a few occasions. While Lexie is much much better, we still have to be cautious where we walk her, and so many of our walks have taken us down to Stoer beach this year. And our Sunday walk took us down there today again. And again we had the beach to ourselves.
The tide was quite high making the beach look completely different to our usual visits which we try and time to fit in with low tide. But it meant that Peggy could get quite a bit of practice at swimming in the sea. Most of her swimming is in the lochs, and so she's a little nervous about the waves, but she went out quite far today:
And for Lexie - well it was lovely to see her playing with stones on the beach, something we've not seen her do for some time now. Although her paws look red, it isn't blood but rather where she licks them, discolouring her white fur:
Throw it again, boss, throw it again:
There was a bit of a race to reach the rolling stone first, and while Peggy usually got there first she quickly lost interest:
Choosing instead to stick to swimming:
I always enjoy the view from Stoer back towards where our house is well hidden in among the rocks on the hillside. You can see it, but you have to know where to look and you have to look really closely:
I'm sorry the blog has been a little on the quiet side of late. Stevan and I have been working on the seeds of an idea for a new project to run alongside what I already do - nothing which we can talk about yet, but it has been taking up a lot of our time (and brain power!). Fear not - there is NO plan to make any changes to the core role of Ripples Crafts and I will still be dyeing yarn! Until we know if anything will come of our plans, we're keeping a bit quiet about it. It really is a long shot, and so please just cross knitting needles on our behalf.
Finally, I sent out a very special newsletter this week to all those who subscribe to the Ripples Crafts online shop newsletter. It included a code for a discount on one of my favourite yarns as a way of saying "thank you" to the support I have had from my online customers over the last 5 years that the online shop has been live. Ripples Crafts has actually been up and running for a little over 6 years now, but the online shop started a year after Ripples Crafts was born, and I wanted to celebrate that in a small way. If you don't subscribe to the newsletter you may want to consider doing so. And if you didn't receive your copy of the newsletter for some reason, please let me know and I'll get one to you. And those who do subscribe and who did receive their newsletter - a reminder that you only have until midnight tomorrow, Monday 4th August, to redeem your special voucher.

I have checked and I have signed up for your newsletter ages ago and I have never received a newsletter. Did I do it wrong or has it just not registered? Please advise. Thank you. And send the newsletter if possible. Sarah Jeffs
