I must apologise for it having been so quiet on the blog of late.  I have been working all hours in the dye shed dyeing up a storm for Woolfest which takes place in Cumbria later this week.  Added to that we have been back and forth across to the east coast with a very poorly Westie, and so time just seems to have flown past.

I'm pleased to report that said Westie is now slowly on the mend.  She is quite a different dog to the one we had a couple of weeks ago when she was simply falling over every few minutes.  With careful (and unfortunately painful) procedures by our vet she is now well on the mend and is looking much happier and is obviously far more comfortable.

And as for the dyeing - well the yarn is now all packed in the van, ready for the journey south.  I'm hoping I have something to suit all tastes:

It is the 10th anniversary of Woolfest, and so I decided to do a special colourway for Woolfest this year.  I used my "Assynt Storms" method of dyeing, and I combined the colours of the landscape of Assynt together with colours that are prevalent in Cumbria.  I thought I'd give you a wee peek at the colour before it is seen at Woolfest, so (drumroll please) introducing "Assynt Storms meets Woolfest 2014"

I've been trying to get a sock knitted up in the yarn, but I think I can be fairly confident and say that it won't be finished in time!  Here is how it is knitting up - I think the shades are lovely and summery:

If you want to have a hank for yourself, please note that it will be available on a first come, first served basis.  As I only decided to dye the colourway late last week, I have not had time to do a huge amount, but I will put half out on Friday and half on Saturday.  Any left over hanks will be available on the website after Woolfest.  And if there is a demand I may well be prepared to dye it to order once Woolfest is over.

So, for me, the Woolfest adventure begins tomorrow as I set off south.  As a result I'll be emptying the online shop this evening as every available hank is heading south with me.  There was just one lonely hank sitting on the shelf as I closed up the workshop this afternoon, waiting to be posted on my return next week.

I look forward to seeing you there, if you're coming.
