On Friday Woolly Wormhead released the pattern Lexie. I was going to update the blog with the news then, but there was such a flurry of activity on the website that I was kept a little too busy! Thank you to all who have both purchased the pattern and the yarn with which to make the hat.
I sent out a newsletter to my newsletter subscribers with a code which allows them 10% discount on the yarn in the shop, in order to give them a head start on getting the shades they wanted. But now the website has settled down a little, I thought I'd share the code with you all here. Just type in "Lexie" during the check out process online, and you will receive a discount on your purchase of Warm Hearted Aran yarn (but be warned - this is for a limited period so be quick!). And if you're keen to take part in a Knitalong, Woolly Wormhead is hosting one on her Ravelry group, and there are prizes, so if you are a member of Ravelry and intend knitting the hat, go and have a look at the KAL thread.

The pattern includes 2 tutorials - one for a cable cast on, and one for cabling without a cable needle. I must admit I used this method when knitting my version of the hat above - I find it so much easier. If you are relatively new to knitting, and you've never knitted a hat, then I have to tell you that this would be a good pattern with which to start. The instructions are clear and are both written and charted.
I am now very busy dyeing for the upcoming Highland Wool Festival which takes place in Dingwall on the 24th May. So forgive me if the blog goes a little quiet over the coming weeks! And talking of shows and events, I am pleased to tell you that I have been accepted both for the Border Union Agricultural Show in Kelso in July, and Yarndale in Skipton in September. I'll post more about those events closer to the time.
