Today has been a glorious spring day in Assynt.  We still have to be careful with Lexie's paws (although we're hopeful that her new treatment will sort the problem) so we went for a walk which we knew would be gentle underfoot - not too much rough bracken or heather.  So we headed off to Eadar a' Chalda which affords us fantastic views over Loch Assynt:

The deserted farm looks out over Ardvrek Castle and the loch, and must have been a stunning spot when folk still lived here.  It isn't hard to imagine children playing in amongst the primroses and violets which are scattered around the hill.

I was trying to take good photographs of the beautiful wild violets which are out at the moment, but the only thing I managed to get was a Westie paw before the violet was well and truly trampled!:

There was much frolicking in the burn to cool off.

Stevan has some great pictures over on his blog too, so have a look.

Next Saturday in Clachtoll there is the Clachtoll Festival.  It should be a lot of fun with lots of music and craft stands and,  I have no doubt, food!  So if you're holidaying in Assynt come on Saturday.  I think festivities kick of at around 11.00am and you'll find everyone at the Clachtoll Camp Site.
