  Post-It notes in bright colors for fun. I keep all my notes and rows on them and I also use it as a row or chart marker so I know where to start next time I pick it up. When I am done with a pattern everything goes into a plastic sleeve cover, that way if I want to make it again everything is in one place. I keep all of these in a binder. Like you I have tried everything this is the only thing that works for me.

  I use a note book - then misplace it. Like you it is always a scribble in the corner of the pattern but sometimes I don’t understand my notes. I was brought up to look after books and not mark them at all but I am afraid I do with pattern books. I see them as working journals and do jot down notes. always in pencil, as if that makes it all right. :-(

  I keep a small moleskine notebook in each project bag so that if I need to make a note I can. If I think the pattern is one that I will knit again and I've made major modifications I try to write the notes up and keep them as a file on the computer using the pattern name in the title ( events like these are few and far between)

  I'm a fellow scribbler. There's hardly an envelope left untouched, either - I always count off / cross off rows when doing sleeves ever since a strange one gorilla sleeve incident. Saves the suspense...

  I try to use PDF's or photocopies when working as I write all over my patterns, sometimes mistakes marked, or changes that worked, and more recently I have been writing in the books so when I photocopy it they have the notes already on them and then mark off rows etc :-) First time I wrote in a book it was pencil and I didn't sleep well that night, but then I thought about it and realised I have bought it, the book is mine, I am not likely to ever part with it so yes I will note in them. Quite liberating! :-)

  I use the Good Reader app and annotate the patterns on line. Just like scribbling really. I always keep a tally of rows and stitches.
