Today we went for a short walk, as the rain clouds were threatening:

But when storms threaten, you sometimes get the most fantastic light which makes you see colours in the landscape that at other times you would just miss, such as the lovely yellows, brackens and greens on the hills:

One of the colours out of the dye pots this week is a deep, deep purple. It is probably closer to a dark damson shade than purple. However this colour is almost impossible to capture accurately on camera. Purple is notorious for this - my purples either come out too pink or too blue.

The above photo was as accurate as I could get it, after quite a while of fiddling and faddling on the camera and computer although it still looks a bit too "pink" for my satisfaction. Then Stevan suggested I try and find a colour online which was more accurate. The only link I could find was to this shade of Cuprinol, which may well be my choice of shade for when I re-paint the dye shed! The shade in the link is "flatter" than the yarn, which is very saturated and has a depth to it which the Cuprinol colour doesn't. However - it is in the shop now. I have it in sport weight, which is in the shop, but I also have it in laceweight which I will put up in the shop once I have managed to get a good photograph of the laceweight.
