Yesterday saw the first ...Made in Assynt market for 2013.  And what a good day it was!

The day always begins early, with a very empty looking hall:

But before long stallholders get to work on their individual stands and the hall, and stands, start to take shape.  Here was mine - much smaller than the stand  I had in Edinburgh of course, but it added some colour:

That is the recently completed Berkenan Shawl on the left.  I could have sold it many times over yesterday, but it isn't for sale (and certainly not for £19.00 - someone mistook the price label for the silk yarn as the price label for the shawl - when I explained a fairer price would be minimum wage times the number of hours it took me to make which was between 50 and 80 hours, she lost interest.  Funny that).

No sooner had 10.00am struck, and the hall started to fill up:

One of the great things about the ....Made in Assynt fairs is that it gives you the opportunity to catch up with neighbours and fellow Assynt residents who you may not see for weeks on end:

One of the newest recruits to the ...Made in Assynt group is Anne Roberts, an artist now living in Assynt.  She had on display the most stunning mobiles to hang in your window to catch the light.  Fortunately yesterday was wonderfully sunny and bright, showing off her mobiles perfectly:

Anne uses bits and bobs she finds around her home to create these lovely art pieces.  Here's another one:

Assynt Leisure were in charge of teas and coffees and raised nearly £180 towards the Assynt Leisure fund.  Thanks to all who came and supported them - mind you it wasn't hard given the lovely cakes they had on offer to tempt us!:

The next ...Made in Assynt market is on the first Friday in May.  Make a date in your diary!

PS: Apologies for the slightly orange haze to the photographs.  I didn't spot the camera was on the wrong setting!  There would have been many more photographs of lovely things in this blog post if they didn't all look like they were taken at sunset.
