The fundraising through Heather's GOLD is going so well, and already we have smashed the target of raising one tenth of the total which Heather needs to raise for her trip to Cambodia. For those of you who missed the blog entry giving the background to Heather's GOLD, then take a moment to go and read it to get an idea of what all this is about.

I was only in the Brownies for a very short period of time, and to be honest I don't remember it being as much fun as Brownies seem to have these days. I've seen Heather's Mum, Jacqui, preparing for her Brownie evenings in her role as Brownie Leader (aka Snowy Owl), and she always seems to have something new and fresh up her sleeve to do with the unit. I think the most intriguing instance was when I turned up at their house in Edinburgh to find her boiling and scrubbing a bucket full of scallop shells. I had hoped we were set to have scallops for tea, but no ... they were for a Brownie project.

Thank you to everyone who has helped this fundraising cause so far. You have just been tremendous. I'll be expanding the bases that I have been using for this colourway to include the 150g hanks of 100% bluefaced leicester over the next couple of weeks, so if you'd like to put your name down for one of these, let me know.
Thank you to all the brownies at the 193A City of Edinburgh Brownies Unit for letting me use photographs of them in this entry.
Edited to add: I forgot to say that Heather's GOLD has also inspired a young girl to learn how to knit. She bought a hank of Heather's GOLD and she is going to learn how to knit from her Granny. How wonderful!
