I cast off my final finished item for 2012 yesterday. Well, almost finished .... it still needs washing and blocking, but here is Ravi Junior in its raw, almost finished form.
I really, really enjoyed knitting this little cardigan. It is a pattern by Carol Feller, and you can find it on Ravelry here. I bought the adult size Ravi pattern when it was first released but never got around to knitting it, but when Carol released the junior version, I knew it was an ideal opportunity to knit something as a display piece for the stand for shows next year. It is knitted in Ripples Crafts Sport Weight, and the colour is Hot Chocolate - I used a "whoopsie" for this sample so there are a few flecks which won't be in the stock of hot chocolate in the shop. If you like the flecks, then tell me and I'll dye you some whoopsies! The only thing I'm really not happy with is the resulting i-cord bind off down the front of the cardigan - it is very uneven, but I am hoping that blocking will sort this out!:
But other than that little niggle, I really like the finished cardi. I find the fabric produced by the sport weight yarn immensely satisfying. It is fairly dense, but very, very snuggly. As soon as I have settled on a colour I will be doing an adult version of this sweater. I especially love the yoke:
It gives such a pretty shape to the cardigan.
I have an offer for you in the shop. Purchase yarn (excluding yarn clubs) to the value of £40 or more in one purchase and you will receive a small new year gift from me. It will either be a Ripples Crafts project bag or a hank of 4ply yarn out of the waifs and strays basket in my workshop (not from the waifs and strays shelf in the shop). You can state your preference of gift, but there will not be any choice in colour of either bag or yarn - it will just be a surprise! And I can't guarantee your preference as stocks may have run out. This offer is only available for purchases over £40 made between 1st and 4th January 2013. This is a small thank you to all my customers who have been so generous with their support during 2012.
