It is always difficult to say "this is my favourite spot" or "this is" - the most I'll say is that "this is ONE of my favourite spots".  If we head up the hill behind our house, and keep going up and up and up, we arrive at what we know is "my loch":

We haven't been able to find a name for this loch on maps, hence our calling it "my loch", and Stevan always knows where I mean if I say I'm taking the dogs for a walk to my loch.   It is only a little loch, and is fairly insignificant in the scheme of things in this part of the world, but you can see so much of Assynt from here.  You can't quite see it in the photo above, but behind the hill is Suilven, our most iconic hill in Assynt.

Swing around by about 90 degrees and you can see Lexie's Loch:

Turn a further 90 degrees, and you look out over the village of Stoer, Clachtoll's nearest neighbour:

and turning the final 90 degrees, and you look out over the Minch and towards Lewis and Harris:

From here you also get a good view of one of our other favourite spots, The Old Soldier's, which from this point is probably about a mile away, although the walk there will take a while as it will be up hill and down dale:

Stevan always thinks the fresh air gives him energy and makes him quite a bit stronger than he really is, so he had to try lifting this huge rock!  I suspect he should probably hold his application to World's Strongest Man for now though:

His hat, by the way, is one of his favourites and a really old one.  It was a pattern that appeared on the old Magknits website and it was called Amber.  Of course Magknits is long gone (and we won't visit that story!), but the pattern is still available if you follow the link.  It was knitted in the days before I had Ripples Crafts, so it isn't knitted in "my" yarn.  But if I recall correctly I knitted it in New Lanark Aran weight yarn, although the pattern calls for worsted weight.
