Winter has the potential to be a dark time. Days are short, nights are long, and the cold weather drives most people indoors to be warm. And on really wet, dull days I'd have to say that I'm probably one of those people. I need to motivate myself to go out into the cold. But ..... if you do make the effort on a sunny winter's day, you will be rewarded with stunning winter light. And the low light highlights things you would sometimes miss in brighter, stronger sunlight. Such as this lichen clinging low to one of the rocks:
Or the ice forming on a puddle:
The clear, crisp air means from the hills I get a good view of the sheep being gathered in the fank in Stoer. Stoer fank has to be in the running for "Fank with the Best View 2012", surely?
It is also at this time of year that you get views which reward you with layer upon layer of colour - if someone painted this sort of view you'd not think it was realistic, but it is:

So grab your coats, don your warmest socks, scarves, gloves and other warm woolly items, and get out there and enjoy the light!
