Back in January when I launched a new yarn base called Na Dannsairean I had a strong feeling that it would be popular, and it has proved to be so.  I also knew what I wanted to knit with it as soon as I saw it dyed up.

Still Light is a pattern written by the very talented designer, Veera Välimäki.   You may recall I recently knitted another of her patterns, Colour Affection.  Knitting Still Light was a bit of a labour of love, as it was a lot of stocking stitch knitting in 4ply, which tends to be rather slow.  So it has only taken me 4 months to finish this!  But I am absolutely thrilled with it.  I think the combination of yarn and pattern works well.

I only made one major alteration to the pattern, and that was at the base of the tunic where you are meant to have a ribbed section.  However the rib kept curling over on itself for some unknown reason (it didn't do this on the sleeves) and I didn't think blocking would solve the problem, so I put in a hem, after taking advise from knitters wiser than myself.  I think this makes it sit better too having a slightly heavier hem to hold it down.

The pockets are built into the main knitting of the body, and flow well with the lines of the tunic:

Overall I can't recommend this pattern highly enough.  I think it is something I will wear again and again and again, and despite it being May, in Scotland we're still experiencing cold spells, so it is proving very useful:

Details:

Size Knitted:  Largest given in pattern.  It is a little large for me, especially the sleeves, but I prefer positive ease, so the fit suits me.

Yarn Used:  Na Dannsairean 4ply in Winter Sea colour

Amount Needed:  I used 530g of yarn.  I made the pockets quite deep and the sleeves slightly longer.
