The week running up to Christmas is always a busy one for most folk.  There are presents to wrap, food to buy, and people to see.  Furthermore, in places such as Assynt, you run the risk of hibernating for winter and not seeing many folk at all, but fortunately events are organised which get you out of your chair, out the house, and socialising.  This week we were fortunate enough to have such an event.

Stoer village hall is a tiny hall compared to other village halls.  It probably only holds about 50 or 60 seats.  But the village hall committee know how to put on an event.  When the word went out that Duncan Chisholm was keen to visit Assynt and give a concert, tickets were snapped up.

Duncan Chisholm has been here many a time, and knows the area well.  His friend and music colleague, Ivan Drever, even wrote a tune after a  memorable trip to Assynt called "Leaving Stoer" - a heartbreaking tune if you live in exile from Assynt.   This time he bought with him Iain MacFarlane and Marc Clement.   It was a wonderful evening of music and storytelling and memories.  Perfect for a stormy, winter's evening.
