There is a whole mix of things to tell you about today, so no real theme to this blog entry other than to say it's "a bit of this and a pinch of that".

Assynt has been experiencing a very dry few weeks.  Normally this wouldn't be too much of an issue, but on Sunday a dreadful grass fire broke out on the slopes of Cul Mor, and the easterly wind fanned the fire towards the coast, and Inverkirkaig.  Fortunately everyone in the area is safe, but the the devastation caused to the eco-system has been dreadful.   Fortunately the fires are now said to be under control, and I sincerely hope that this is the case.

On the home front, Stevan has been busy at work in the garden.  And he has a constant companion in the form of Lexie.

This is because we have a daft Westie who has a passion for riding in the wheel barrow.  We think it is because she particularly likes the way her bark resonates when she's in the wheelbarrow!

Meanwhile the lambs in the field alongside our house are now coming thick and fast, and I've had company when I've been dyeing in my shed.  This is the only set of twins I've seen so far:

The other day I had a bit of time on my hands in Lochinver, and it suddenly struck me that although I often talk about Lochinver I don't think I've ever posted a photograph of the village.  This is looking back towards the village centre from the yacht moorings in the harbour:

It was an absolutely glorious day and the gorse was looking just stunning on the hill above the church:

Sorry this has been such a "bitty" posting, but life has been a little like that of late.  Next week sees the first of the Summer shows, and I'll be at Scotland's Knitting Only Show in Perth.  Will you be there?
