To be honest, it is really only in the summer that we have the opportunity of using our washing line for drying washed clothes.  But throughout the year I use it for another purpose - drying yarn.  Those of you familiar with my logo and the header at the top of my web pages will be familiar with the hanging yarn logo.    Once I have finished dyeing yarn, it gets hung on the line to drip until it is either fully dry, or almost dry, at which point it is taken indoors to finish drying in front of the fire.  I am sure neighbours (especially visitors to the holiday house near our home) must wonder sometimes!

Stevan recently fitted a new washing line outside my shed, making it easier for me just to pop out the shed workshop with the dripping yarn and hang it up to drip.   Today, after a marathon session of dyeing, the line looked particularly festive:

My work was accompanied by the plaintive cries of more new lambs in the field alongside our home.  They are so lovely to see, but their cries can be heart rending at times.

Fortunately the Mums seem unconcerned by the close proximity of Peggy and Lexie, as they know the two dogs pretty well now, and barely turn their heads when they are in the garden.

On the shop front, for those of you on Ravelry, I am thrilled to tell you that Ripples Crafts has been selected as one of the sponsors of the June Cookie A KAL in the Knit. Sock. Love group on Ravelry.  The pattern selected for June is Stricken a lovely pattern with cable detail.  The photo in the link shows the example of this pattern knitted in a lovely, cheery yellow.  It just so happens that I dyed a bit of yellow today.   Bright, sunny yellow.  But then I also dyed some beautiful emerald green, an unusual pink/lavender shade, as well as some pale blue, lipstick red, deep burgundy and the most outrageous turquoise you've ever seen.  I will be spending tomorrow photographing all the yarn and putting it up in the shop.  So if you're doing the Cookie A KAL (or even if you're not), do visit the shop soon and choose your yarn in preparation for the start of the KAL in June.
