In an attempt to get rid of a very nasty cold, we took a walk on Stoer Beach when there was a spring low tide. Normally on Stoer beach there isn't a huge amount of beach!  There is a very pebbly shelf which you have to carefully clamber down otherwise you can easily lose your footing and take a tumble:

and then normally just a small amount of beach before you reach the sea.  However on this particular spring low a great expanse of beach was exposed, allowing those with a bit more energy than me to have a bit of a run.

And while certain dogs were happy to trot sedately:

some were a little more wild!:

These limpets looked like they'd been neatly put in a row:

and the huge fronds of seaweed looked quite lost away from the safety of the sea:

It did cross my mind that spring lows may be an ideal time to collect seaweed for the potato patch!

One last look at the expanse of beach thanks to the springs, and then we headed home.

Tomorrow is the first of the Made in Assynt Artisan Fairs in Lochinver.  I'm looking forward to it, and if you're passing through, do pop in and say hello.  Entry is Free!
