Dyeing:
The Fibre is up in the shop. I'm really enjoying the fibre dyeing again. I've had a bit of a break from it, but with encouragement from someone who's opinion I value and who very kindly said she loved my dyed fibre, I decided to get back into it. So there it is. I hope you like it. At the moment the colours are one offs, and please note that the prices quoted are for
200g of fibre, but if you only want 100g then let me know and I'll divide it up.
Knitting:
Juneberry Triangle is complete. For this I used one of the Assynt Tweed colourways called
Purple Swirl. The dyeing method used involved overdyeing one colour with another, so no two hanks will be the same. The effect was lovely and I'm really pleased with the final result:

Now I should add that the original pattern calls for sport or worsted weight yarn. Both these terms are American terms which we don't really use in the UK, but sport weight is somewhere between 4ply and DK and worsted is somewhere between DK and Aran. Needless to say I didn't use either, but chose to use the 4ply instead. As a result I don't think the nupps are quite as pronounced as they would be in a heavier weight yarn, but I'm still happy with it. Here is a closeup of the complex colours:
Admiring the View:
Tuesday afternoons means knitting class in Lochinver. I have a lovely group working on a variety of projects. Some are doing fairly straightforward but useful fingerless gloves in order to get back into knitting which they have neglected over time, whereas others are doing some very complex fair isle mittens or some beautifully textured gloves, and one is knitting
Maia.
On the way into class I was reminded that although there have been early signs of spring (the daffodils are
just beginning to peek through the ground), it is only February and there is still a risk of snow, and today the wind was bitterly cold, probably because it was blowing straight off the snowy Assynt hills:

After leaving class, driving through the centre of Lochinver I had to stop to photograph the beautiful sunset over the bay:

And to cap off a lovely, creative day (there was also spinning, but more of that another time) I got home to find that the refurbished wind generator had arrived back and Stevan had already managed to get it back up the top of the 6 metre pole while keeping himself in one piece and it was working again. We have power!
