Finally!  Cobblestone is complete.  I can't remember when I started this, but I think it was over the Christmas period as I had intended it for infrontoftellyeasyknitting knitting.  And it was easy knitting, but I had not accounted for how awfully boring it is doing garter stitch in the round.  And there is a lot of garter stitch in this sweater.  There is also a lot of stocking stitch, but knitting stocking stitch in the round means simply knitting rather than one row knit, one row purl.

It didn't help that the first time I thought I had finished this sweater I realised it was too short!  So I had to pull out all of the yoke (i.e. all that garter stitch) and lengthen it before redoing the yoke.  And the final result?  Well, I think it is rather nice.  And it is good and rustic for wearing around the garden and dealing with hens.  The yarn I used is very old yarn that I had in stash which I had bought from Brora Mill when it was still open - which shows how old it is as I think Brora mill has been closed for at least 10 or 12 years.   When I washed the sweater I was quite surprised at how much dye came out.  But thinking about it I think it may have been a mix of dye and dirty lanolin rather than just dye.  The yarn has been sitting around on the cone for an awfully long time, so I shouldn't be surprised that it was a little dusty.

One final action man shot:

And the neckline that he was concerned about?  Well I knitted it as per the pattern and I think it looks good like that.  I think Stevan is reserving judgement.  I did add a few more rows to the yoke so that the neckline was raised, but only a few extra rows.

So that is my leisure knitting over - now it is back to working on samples using my own yarn.
