We have a slightly non-traditional approach to Haggis. For a start I add carrot to my neaps, but probably the biggest deviation is that we add a South African tweak ..... Mrs Balls Chutney! Sorry Rabbie, but it is delicious.
We had our haggis, neeps and tatties on Saturday night with 16 friends (followed by blackcurrant Pavlova for the kiwi touch) and it was all yummy. On Monday night, we had the leftovers - tatties and neeps combined and fried like a potato cake thingy, with fried (to warm it up) haggis and bacon. SO tasty! I could have eaten it all twice. And we still have another haggis in the freezer. MMMMM.....
We paid homage to the bard with haggis, neeps and tatties too! Canned haggis I'm afraid - you can't get the real thing over here, but it was excellent all the same!
Had mine in Glasgow, Helen, I like it with Mango Chutney. The friends I was staying with did a McSweens meat one and a vegetarian one. I preferred the meat as it did have more flavour. best wishes Helen
