Summer is always a busy time for us, but now that Autumn is well and truly here we're trying to get back into the routine of Sunday Walks.  This morning dawned frosty and cold, but bright and sunny, so before the clouds decided to spoil the sky we set off for a walk.

The sun was pretty low in the sky, but very bright, and it meant there were lovely shadows to be seen in the sadly now ruined dwellings which are to be found all over the highlands.

As we climbed higher we were able to clearly see Lewis across the Minch thanks to the low tide which makes the island more visible:

The bright light, combined with the autumnal inevitability of trees losing their leaves, often makes you notice things not normally spotted.  I don't know how many times we've walked past these trees, but I hadn't noticed before today how the branches only grow out of opposite sides of the two trees:

Suddenly we realised Lexie had taken her own walk and was no longer alongside us as normal.  Looking up at a ridge to our left we realised she was intent on something she'd spotted:

And here is what she'd got the scent of :

She's got a pretty smart nose when it comes to deer.  Fortunately she has no desire to chase them, just watch them.
