I would be lying if I said I wasn't a little bit on the tired side! There was no resting after I got the big order out for the US fashion house at the beginning of this week as I then had to go straight into dyeing for Woolfest. I already had a fair amount of stock, but there were a few gaps, so I have spent this week dyeing as much as I can as what I haven't dyed by Monday won't be going to Woolfest as it won't be dry enough to label up in time to pack up into the car on Wednesday in preparation for heading down the road early on Thursday morning.
So this afternoon when Stevan suggested a short walk, I decided that it would be good for me to have a bit of breathing space. We headed off to Lexie's Loch, but we took our time getting there as all the lovely wild flowers are starting to appear. There are the beautiful, delicate and tiny heath spotted orchids:
And the bluebells are still out:
As is the very delicate looking bog cotton:
The shilasdair have finally decided to bloom - about 4 weeks later than last year:
We're very fortunate to have a huge patch of shilasdair right outside our house and when it is fully in bloom there is a sea of yellow:
And just to round up some of my favourite flowers, the Foxgloves are just starting to open their buds:
Of all the wild flowers we get up here, the foxglove is the most exuberant, both in colour and size.
It was good to have some breathing space. Just enough to recharge the batteries for one final push to get all the dyeing done.
Footnote: All of the above photographs, bar one, are courtesy of Stevan, as I seem to have lost my photographing mojo!
