Many, many moons ago I went to secretarial college in Cape Town.  I've forgotten the name of the college (although I'm sure my Mum will remember!), but I do remember having to study "Deportment" which involved lessons on how to dress for the office and how to walk while carrying a tray of coffee cups in a way that meant they did not rattle too much on the tray.  While some of the subject matter for our classes now appears outdated and laughable, the core skills I learnt there stood me in good stead for a variety of jobs, and I've never regretted the time spent at the college.  While there we had classes in how to answer the telephone correctly.  At the time it was always assumed that as secretaries we would be working for a man, and if our boss didn't want to take a phone call for some reason or another we had to say, politely, that "he is otherwise engaged".  It seems such a strange term.

But it is a term which I will now have to apply to myself.  So please forgive me if, for the next couple of weeks, the blog isn't updated as regularly as it should be.  Woolfest is looming at the end of next week, and I still have a huge pile of yarn that still needs dyeing.   The club yarn needs dyeing before I head off to Woolfest so it is ready to post out on my return, and I'm still trying to get a little bit of knitting done when I have a spare moment or two, to say nothing of trying to update the website and keep orders flowing out.

If you're planning on coming to Woolfest please stop by the stand and say hello.  And if you have any particular colourways you'd like me to bring with me, please let me know over the next couple of days as I finish up the dyeing.

I'm still here, but I'm simply otherwise engaged.
