The Lochinver Mission Project!
Well, sort of. The project won't form part of the TV series that will be made following the progress of 6 projects, but the BBC and Big Lottery decided to choose a further 4 villages that they considered to have worthy projects and which they wanted to support. They have decided to give the project a Learning Award of £400K so it is all go for the redevelopment of the Lochinver Mission building. Yesterday the building was open to the public, and many came to have a look at the plans that had been drawn up, and the buzz of anticipation was quite palpable. Soup and sandwiches were laid on (we have some seriously good soup makers in this part of the world!) and there may have been a bit of fizzy stuff around too.
Congratulations to the Steering Committee. You have all worked incredibly hard for this, and it is well deserved. I'll certainly be queuing up on the first night the cafe is open in the hope of having some more soup!
