My recent visit to K1 in Edinburgh was a lot of fun, even though the date had to be hastily changed because of weather conditions here in the north.  In fact it was so much fun that Katherine and I decided it would be a good idea to do it all again in August, only this time we would do it over 2 days.  So, put the dates in your diary now!  I will be at K1 on Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th August.   I will also be holding a workshop on both days - a short masterclass in knitting lace.  The class is aimed at beginners to lace knitting, and we will cover some of the basic techniques in lace knitting along with looking at a couple of stitch patterns used in the shawl that you can see in this entry.  Details of both my visit and the classes should be appearing on the K1 website in the not too distant future.

Today I had some time off - I have a big show next week and my head is so full of lists, prices, colours, and all the other minutia which occupy my brain before a show, so I decided a change of scene was needed.  Stevan had a meeting over on the east coast in Golspie, so early this morning we set off.  Although only 70  miles apart, the two coastlines of Sutherland are like chalk and cheese.  It really is astonishing.  You can see the landscape changing as you head east, and small crofts and crofthouses give way to much bigger farms and farmhouses.  The coastline is quite different, and even the north sea looks so different to the Minch, which we see every day.  Different, but still very beautiful.   I'm afraid I neglected to take any photographs reasonable enough for the high standard demanded by this blog, but on the way home it was evident it had been an awfully tiring morning for a Westie:
