I live in an area that has approximately 2 people to every square kilometre. The area of Assynt has approximately 1200 people living in it. So not a lot of people.
At exceptionally short notice, the Assynt Peace Group decided to have a fund raising table top sale for MSF's work in Haiti. With just a few days notice everyone in the area rallied around, and on Saturday afternoon we had a wonderful crowd in Lochinver Village Hall, all being very generous with their money, and goods. I took a table, and all proceeds from the afternoon's sales went to the collection.
And the amount raised in this small community? An overwhelming and wonderful £1750.00.
