And it is still beautifully white everywhere.  Here is the same view as yesterday's photograph, but in daylight:

We ventured out for a very brief stroll.

I think I can state for the record that the hens are not happy!  However they continue to give us 3 eggs a day, so we must be doing something right.  Perhaps it is the warm, softened pearl barley.  Or it could be the fact that Stevan brings them in one by one from time to time to warm through by the fire.  ("Why aren't I surprised?" I hear those of you who know Stevan saying).

We were meant to be on our way to Inverness this evening to collect friends from the airport, however the weather has beaten us, and we've opted to be sensible and not head off for what is normally a 4 hour round trip in good weather, but one which could possibly be a lot longer in the dark, on roads that are still incredibly icy, and in temperatures which are still well below freezing.  So instead our friends will have a restful evening in an Inverness hotel, and we'll spend the evening by the fire with a book or a bit of knitting.

I do like winter!
