I had an excuse to do a little sightseeing this week, as our neice, Susie, was with us. Susie and I decided we would take a bit of a cruise. For many years now Willie has been doing very popular boat trips up Loch Glencoul to see Britain's highest waterfall, Eas a'Chual Aluinn in the Statesman. This photo of Susie is looking down Loch Glencoul towards the waterfall, although you can't see it in this photograph:
In case you're thinking we had the boat to ourselves .... we didn't. The others were just taking shelter in the back of the boat from the occasional splash of water and the odd drop of rain. We saw so many seals, including some beautiful young ones, but sadly my photographs really didn't do them justice. You'll just have to do the trip yourselves!
Now, some of you know how I feel about cows. From a distance - lovely. But too close up - not so lovely. Stevan gleefully pointed out one today who was hiding behind a wall, waiting to pounce:
I may be convinced they're ready to pounce, but they are lovely to look at. They certainly fit in to this landscape perfectly.
On our walk to the beach we also stopped to admire this rather handsome fellow:
He's a Boreray .... isn't he magnificent?
After the relative calm of this week, next week will be a complete contrast. So forgive me if I'm not around much. However if you're anywhere near Dingwall next Saturday, do stop by the Craft Fair to say hello. It's being held in the British Legion Club in Dingwall, from 10.00am.
