Did I hear someone say "more lambs, please?".  Okay .... just a couple more.  These are beautiful hebridian lambs.  The camera had difficulty coping with their colouring, but I have to admit, they are lovely!

And finally, the last lamb picture.  This one was taken this morning just as I was leaving for the Visitor Centre.  Last night was wild and windy, and not the ideal world for this lamb, only minutes old, to emerge into:

This is the closest I've come to seeing a lamb being born.  It really is only minutes old, and the ewe is still cleaning it.

The wild weather made for an interesting trip into work.  I thought I knew what windy conditions were like, having lived through many a South Easter (also known as the Cape Doctor)  in Cape Town.  But this morning it was pretty frightening driving in to Lochinver.   On my journey I pass a loch which is usually beautifully calm, but this morning the wind was whipping up spray, coating all the cars that ventured past:

You can see the road that my commute to Lochinver involves, snaking up the hill behind the loch.  The rest of the day turned out to be fairly eventful too, with a fishing boat running aground right outside the visitor centre.  You can see the RNLI rescue boat standing by.  If a boat could choose where it gets into difficulty it couldn't have chosen a better place.  The RNLI station in Lochinver is only a few hundred metres away from where the boat stranded.

Apologies for the tree blocking part of the boat, but I took this photo from upstairs in the visitor centre as I couldn't get outside to take better photographs.  Fortunately it wasn't too serious, and once the tide was high the boat simply floated off.

I won't be around for a few days.  This weekend I'll be at Scotland's Knitting Only Show in Perth with my yarn.  So if you find yourselves in the neighbourhood of Perth Racecourse, do pop in and say hello.
