Pink Tartan
Saturday, May 29 2010. Fashion
I've finally made my choice of colour for my Alina. I'm doing the triangular version of the pattern. The actual name of the colourway above is Assynt Berries, but once I'd wound it it looked just like some tartan, although I don't think I've ever seen tartan quite that pink.

Another tempting glimpse
Wednesday, May 26 2010. Fashion
Polly has been working her magic again. This time she has come up with a design using Ripples Crafts 2ply laceweight yarn. The sample was knitted in the Bluefaced Leicester 2ply, but the bfl is to be replaced by 2ply merino which will work just as beautifully. Here is a little glimpse:I […]

Sightseeing (aka mini-holiday part 3)
Tuesday, May 25 2010. Dogs
It is some time since we last went camping, and because of where we live we're used to having pretty quiet nights. So being surrounded by other campers takes some getting used to. But on Saturday night we were both woken up by strange growling outside the tent. We both pondered over what it might […]

Sunshine (aka mini-holiday part 2)
Monday, May 24 2010. Scotland
While exploring the grounds of the David Marshall Lodge Visitor Centre I managed to get a few photographs of the beautiful bluebells which are in full bloom at the moment.I also came across this statue built in recognition of the LumberJills during WWII:Further wanderings through the huge grounds […]

A Mini Holiday
Sunday, May 23 2010. Barbara Macleod Jewellery
Lexie hates leaving home. She refuses to come with me in the car for the short ride into Lochinver to do shopping or post parcels, whereas Peggy will jump into the car at any opportunity. Sometimes she simply sits in my car all day, as it is warm, out of the wind and rain, and it means she can […]

Clubs
Wednesday, May 19 2010. Sock Club
My yarn clubs have been running for about 18 months now. They have been remarkably successful, and I enjoy doing the club yarn as it gives me the impetus to try something new and different. I always fret that club members will hate the colour in any given month, but I've never had anyone say […]

Green Fingers
Monday, May 17 2010. Assynt
Dyeing yarn comes with risks, and the more serious risks I take extremely seriously (inhalation of dye powder as one prime example - at times I look like an alien out of a really bad alien movie when I have my breathing apparatus on). But one thing I hate doing is wearing rubber gloves, so at times […]

All over for another year / Sunday Walks
Sunday, May 16 2010. Dogs
Well, Scotland's Knitting Only Show has been and gone for another year. It is a pretty small show in terms of hand knitting shows, but it is such a friendly one. The visitors are lovely, the stallholders are all lovely and friendly, and the organisation is good.Towards the end of the day I […]

Perth Knitting Show 2010
Friday, May 14 2010. Archeology
This morning dawned dry and sunny, so it was a lovely drive down to the beautiful county of Perthshire today. We were even early! So we were one of the first to set up the stand ready for tomorrow. Here is the stand before I unpacked:and here it is, ready and waiting for lots of lovely buyers […]

The Lochinver Mission Project!Well, sort of. The project won't form part of the TV series that will be made following the progress of 6 projects, but the BBC and Big Lottery decided to choose a further 4 villages that they considered to have worthy projects and which they wanted to support. They […]

Decisions
Saturday, May 8 2010. Assynt
The weather has simply not been able to make a decision recently - should we have proper spring weather or keep it a little on the wintry side? The wind has swung around so it is blowing in from the north, making it bitingly cold, and on days where there is no wind there has been low mist and […]

A new wee soul
Wednesday, May 5 2010. Isaac's Sheep
Just a few minutes old.The weather has turned wet and cold again, and I always feel so sorry for the poor lambs born into a cold, drizzly world. But the mums do their best to keep them warm and sheltered. A croft backs on to our garden, and they use our fence for shelter so we get to see some […]

City Visit
Monday, May 3 2010. Scotland
From time to time we have to visit the city of Inverness. It is a four hour round trip, and isn't an outing we relish as we're really not city folk, but there are compensations - the views along the way:[caption id="attachment_2884" align="aligncenter" width="640" […]

It's that time of year again .......Yes, our first lambs are starting to appear around the croft:That's a very new little lamb.Peggy, however, remains unimpressed, preferring the company of our daffodils:The club yarn will be in the post on Tuesday. I am now gearing up for the Perth Knitting Show […]

Happy Day
Saturday, May 1 2010. Garden
My nephew got married today. While we were not there (being on a different continent really can be tough sometimes), my sister sent photo's as soon as she could. And the bride and groom did look radiantly happy, but instead of a photo of the newly weds, I know they won't mind if I give you my […]
